Your Substack Starter Kit on The Editing Spectrum
My step by step strategic guidance, using affordable resources to launch your journey
Starting your Substack journey is exciting, but it can also feel a bit overwhelming.
That’s why I’ve created a collection of affordable resources to help you take confident first steps. The links below are all included in a year-long membership. They’re designed to polish your profile, craft compelling emails, and get comfortable with publishing — laying the foundation for a newsletter you’re proud to share.
1️⃣ Start by polishing your first impressions.
These are the primary places that readers in the Substack ecosystem learn about you, what you do and the kind of writing they can expect in your newsletter. They use this composite set of spaces to form their first impressions. Use my guide below to polish yours.
2️⃣ Make sure your welcome email is really good.
There are first impressions inside the Substack ecosystem and then there is one single first impression you make inside someone’s inbox: their welcome email. Make it count using my welcome email frameworks.
3️⃣ Then start getting a feel for what it means to publish a newsletter.
How you write for a blog no one reads and a newsletter where readers have a genuine chance of finding you? It’s gonna take a different kind of cadencing and attention. Watch this video below where I talk through a method for keeping your bandwidth and readers’ bandwidth in mind.
If you need more in-depth resources, publishing templates and more, I have a great workshop with writing plan tools you can purchase here.
4️⃣ Start getting to know the data in your newsletter journey.
5️⃣ Start finding newsletters you love and joining in the conversations.
On your home page, you can start finding amazing newsletters by genre, including topics like mental health, food & drink, news and more.
Thank you, Amanda.
Thank you for all of this Amanda! One of my goals for early 2025 is to finish my planned makeover. I am working on a new Icon and Header Logo and also need to do over my Welcome Letter and About Page.
