Excited to see what you do with The Elements of Style—essential for every writer! I also LOVE this illustrated version of it ... one of my go-to gifts for the writer types. ☺️ https://bookshop.org/a/9841/9780143112723
OMG that book. It’s so perfect in every way. I’ve used it since high school and…I’m sharing something here that may get me in trouble but I’m on vacation and I don’t care…I work in real estate and I have found the majority of agents to be horrific writers. If I hear another “nestled in the heart of” or “diamond in the rough” I swear I will flip some tables. No reflection on their character, most of them just aren’t writers and should be outsourcing.
But I digress.
Years back when I was newish at this selling houses thing I worked with an agent that would capitalize EVERY SINGLE word in their property descriptions. When I asked why they said they didn’t know which ones to capitalize so they figured it was covered that way. Well, I bought him a copy of The Elements of Style as a gift, genuinely thinking he gave a hoot about becoming a better writer. Silly me.
Yay, I’m excited! I read this one first (dessert before dinner!) but I’ll dip back to read the first two installments! I’ve always appreciated your example of reexamining and making adjustments. I tend to default to “it’s always going to be this waaaayyyyyyy! 😩” but i’m learning to see things in terms of seasons.
Writing classes!!! Yay!!!
My thoughts exactly!

Wonderful! I'm excited to do this exploration, too. I think it'll be nourishing without being overwhelming. Bite-sized refreshers...

One of the (many) things I admire about you Amanda is you commitment to writing a generous newsletter in a way that works for you.
