Hi everyone! Sharing my essay called 'Dirty Girl' with you all here. I'm proud of this piece because it was hard to write and harder still to let others read it.
Thanks for doing this. “What Just Happened?” Is raw-faith driven stories about coping with the unexpected. I’m in my 60s, starting a new career. and raising my baby granddaughter with special needs. This came about because of the consequences of addiction in our family. She’s three now and recently endured open-heart surgery, and I just finished radiation therapy for cancer. My previous coping strategies stopped working when my challenges became so complicated. I’ve learned so much through all the difficulties. However, in the beginning I didn’t know where to turn and felt alone. I dont want anyone else to feel that way so that’s why I share our journey on Substack. Here’s my latest post:https://open.substack.com/pub/pattyasaad/p/when-i-dont-get-what-i-want?r=2wodj&utm_campaign=post&utm_medium=web&showWelcomeOnShare=true
Every month I post a daily fitness challenge, something anyone is able to complete in less than 5-10 minutes with modifications to consider if need be. This is the January challenge I just posted:
I am really proud of this piece because it was honest and vulnerable without just making it a whole story about pain and feels like the kind of leadership lessons writing I want to do more of - this is definitely just scratching the surface.
I loved writing this post and the conversations about friendship it triggered on and off line. Friendship is a subject I've wanted to explore for a while but I haven't quite worked out how to. Last October's weekend in Italy with a couple of friends gave me the in. It feels like a laying the foundations post, opening the door to more, what that looks like, I don't know - yet. https://moorlifewriting.substack.com/p/my-next-home-will-have-dark-green
Thanks Amanda! I write and research Mexico and the Maya civilization and I really enjoyed this post on Maya Warrior Queens of the Yuctan—Unstoppable Women Warriors. Yes! They existed!

Hello!
I'm sharing the review of my 2024 on Substack: https://substack.com/home/post/p-153975993
Why? Because I'm really proud that I finally started expressing myself this way, and that there are people willing to read it!
