Check-In: Let’s See Your Poll Questions!
What poll questions are you testing this month? Share your ideas, get inspired by others and take the next step in learning about your readers.
Over the past week, paid members of this community have been hard at work crafting poll questions to deepen their connection with their readers. Now it’s time to share!
Didn’t see last week’s post? You can catch up here. Or check out the poll writing guidance in this post here.
This is your space to:
Share the poll question(s) you’ve been working on.
Get feedback from me and others on how to make your polls even stronger.
See what others are doing and get inspired to try something new.
If you’re not a paid member, you’re still welcome to join the conversation! Use this post to explore what types of polls resonate with your audience and brainstorm ideas for your own newsletter.
For Paid Members: You’ve got the tools — now let’s see your work in action! Drop your poll questions (or results if you’ve already published one!) in the comments below, and I’ll provide feedback to help you fine-tune or interpret them.
For Everyone: Feel free to ask questions, share what you’re learning, or take notes from the examples shared here. If you’re ready to dive deeper into crafting impactful polls, consider joining the membership to access exclusive resources and guidance.
Let’s use this space to learn from each other and elevate our newsletters! I can’t wait to see what you’ve come up with.
New to Amanda and the Editing Spectrum?
I’m Amanda, an editorial strategist and advisor passionate about helping creators move from chaos to clarity. This month, I’m especially excited to share a new offering: Editorial Centering Sessions. These group workshops are designed to help writers like you navigate creative chaos, build focus and find a path forward in your work.
If this sounds like something you need, check out the details here — I’d love to see you in an upcoming session.
Thank you for this opportunity, Amanda! I’ve noted too that Substack polls only offer short responses, a little annoying! But all of these do fit within the word limit. Also, I don’t think there is a way to add a ‘something else’ text box. I’m assuming we ask people to respond in the comments?
Any feedback greatly appreciated!

No idea!!!
Here are mine! I'm excited to receive feedback / thoughts / ideas.
1. If we were meeting up together, where would we meet (ignore time zone restrictions).
A. A hike in the woods or along the beach (nature!)
B. A local cozy quiet coffee shop.
C. Online from the comfort of my own home / couch / bed.
D. Something else (I'll tell you in the comments)
--------
2. When you self-reflect / have space to think, what's the vibe?
A. I have a routine! Morning pages, journal, every day.
B. On the go - on a walk or while driving, etc.
C. With others - friends, therapist, a coach, etc. Verbal processing is the best!
D. I don't :( I have the best intention but life gets in the way.
--------
3. How much headspace is ADHD / autism / neurodivergence taking up for you at the moment?
A. I think/read/talk/write about it all the time. I'm relatively newly discovered and absorbing everything. It feels nice to know I'm not alone.
B. It ebbs and flows. It's not the main topic (anymore) but part of my life so I can't help but think about it.
C. Meh, none really. That's not what I'm here for anyway (I'll tell you what I'm here for instead).
D. I'm curious about it, but I don't actively seek out information.
